Individual applications.

To qualify from our individual grant funding applicants must be aged 25 or younger, attend one of the schools in the Coleshill Cluster (or have attended The Coleshill School), and be in financial need. All applications will be considered on their ‘educational merit’ and impact against the long term aspirations and goals. As a charity we are required to carefully consider each application to ensure that it meets its objectives, but also to apply the available funds in a way that makes the biggest impact. See below for more information.

FAQs

  • Yes : All applications must be for the benefit of a young person or young people under the age of 25 years.

  • As long as the child benefitting attends a school from the Coleshill Cluster, or has attended The Coleshill School, you can apply for grant funding.

  • Yes: We can help with the usual school costs as the child lives in the Parish (Coleshill, Maxstoke, Shustoke, Curdworth, Whitacres, Lea Marston ,Water Orton).

  • No: The Trust does not provide funding for IT Equipment for individuals.

  • No: The Trust does not provide funding for travel costs.

  • Yes, the Trust can help with funding support towards the cost of the trip. This may be a contribution to the total cost. The application must state why the trip is of benefit to the child’s education. All applications are considered on their merit, and there is no guarantee that funding support will be given.

  • The trust does not fund extra-curricular activities. It is a matter of personal choice whether a child attends these activities and for many families it is a question of whether it is affordable or not. Therefore, Non-mandatory activities are not financially supported.

  • Possibly. Each application is judged on its own merit so it is important to stress the achievements and aspirations and an idea of costs involved, or funding support needed. Trustees have supported some applicants in this way over the years. All applications are considered on their merit, and there is no guarantee that funding support will be given.

  • Possibly, providing the applicant is under the age of 25 years at the time of application. The application would be judged on its own merit, and would consider the type of course and how it would help to support longer term aspirations of the individual. If successful, Funding support may be a contribution towards the total cost.

  • The clerk will write to the applicant after the meeting to inform of the outcome. If successful, you will be paid on the evidence that expenditure has been incurred – so receipts/order confirmation/ booking forms etc should be shown to the Clerk who will raise a cheque in reimbursement of expenditure. If there is difficulty in paying for large expenditure upfront – please contact the Clerk to discuss.

  • It is for the applicant to demonstrate why they consider themselves to be in financial need. Applicants may not necessarily be in receipt of state benefits to qualify, but there could be other factors which have created a financial need e.g illness, unemployment, struggling with day to day living expenses.

We would be looking for evidence that all reasonable measures had been taken to remove/reduce what would be considered ‘luxury’ spending items e.g the family trip to Florida this year has made things tight, or the Plasma screen TV, Xbox, new car, gym membership monthly payments are exceeding your monthly income ! We may ask to see bank statements of outgoings/incoming finances.

We could all do with a bit of extra cash, but the charity exists to support those families who are genuinely struggling. Being in receipt of benefits does not automatically qualify for support.

If you consider yourself to be in financial need it is worth talking to your child(s) Headteacher to make them aware of the situation. As a local charity we work closely with the local schools and it may help if they are able to verify or support applications.

  • Yes, we can provide help with school swimming lessons for eligible students.

  • Yes, we can provide help with school trips for eligible students.

  • Possibly. Applicants would need to state clearly why financial support is needed, what other fundraising they are doing to raise the funding needed, and why the trip is of importance, the educational / exceptional benefit, the experience that would not otherwise be gained. Each application is considered on its own merit, full support may not be given, but a contribution towards the trip may be awarded.

  • No, we do not provide financial support for IT equipment for individual applications.

  • Yes, providing that you are under the age of 25 years. We would look at funding core texts, or core equipment to support your studies. A payment in full, or contribution (evidence of receipts) may be made if successful. You will be notified of the outcome of your application after the meeting.

Some students send in receipts at the time of their application – this way a cheque can be raised at the meeting if the application was successful.

  • No – the charity will not provide financial support for accommodation or living expenses.

  • Any Community organisation that wishes to apply for funding is welcome to do so – providing that the beneficiaries are :

Please email the Clerk for more details about how to apply.

  • There is no limit on the number of applications, however each application is considered on its own merit. There is no guarantee that subsequent applications will be successful.
